West Ham Sign Guy Demel

West Ham have signed Ivory Coast international Guy Demel from Hamburger SV on a two year contract. Demel is a right-sided player who can play in defence or midfield. West Ham have also confirmed the year long loan of Arsenal's Henri Lansbury. Junior Stanislas has signed for Burnley for an 'undisclosed fee'.

Bentley Joins West Ham

West Ham have confirmed the signing of David Bentley from Sp#rs on a season long loan.

Interestingly the West Ham website still contains no news of the reported loan signing of Arsenal's Henri Lansbury.

West Ham Sign Lansbury

Sky say that Arsenal midfielder Henri Lansbury will join West Ham on a season loan deal. Lansbury has experience of playing in the Championship having played on loan for Watford and Norwich in the league.

According to Sky Sports West Ham are attempting to sign David Bentley on loan from Spurs.

Swindon have apparently bought Ahmed Abdullah from West Ham.

Celtic have made an offer to take Herita Ilunga on loan from West Ham but the player is apparently only interested in moving to the club on a longer-term deal.

Parker Starts New Relegation Battle

Scott Parker has signed for Sp#rs. The BBC are saying the deal is worth around £5 million.

Parker Hands in Transfer Request

West Ham have confirmed that Scott Parker has handed in a transfer request. Parker said,

"I have had a fantastic four years at West Ham United and will never forget all the support I have had from the fans and everyone associated with the club.

"The manager and board have tried hard to convince me to stay but at this stage in my career, I need to be playing in the Premier League, especially now that I am involved with England.

"I hope the fans will understand and respect my decision and I wish the club every success in their fight for promotion this season."


West Ham have also announced the signing of midfield free agent Papa Bouba Diop.

Diop Plays in West Ham Development Squad

A West Ham 'Development Squad' are currently playing at Little Heath against Brentford. The team includes Papa Bouba Diop.

Diop is currently a free agent and it seems likely that he is being lined up as a replacement for Scott Parker, if Parker gets his requested transfer.

Nouble, Faye and Sears are also playing in the game.

West Ham Loan Montenegro

West Ham have signed Paraguay Under-20 international forward Brian Montenegro for a season long loan from Uruguay club Deportivo Maldonado.

Montenegro is 18 years old and describes himself as "a fast player, I like to run at defenders and scare them. I am still developing physically but I like to attack."

The official West Ham website says that "more signings are expected in the next 72 hours ahead of the 11pm (transfer) deadline on Wednesday."

We Need a Replacement for Parker

Sam Allardyce says he wants to keep Scott Parker but if he leaves then he needs a replacement. Asked about his feelings about losing Scott Parker, Allardyce said,

"We will certainly miss a player of Parker's quality, and we want him with us if the negotiation doesn't go through. Whether the deal is achievable yet, I'm not sure, I've had lots of conversations with the chairman.

"If he does actually leave, I need to replace him immediately. I don't expect any other player to leave before Wednesday.

"I'm more interested in strengthening the squad, we need numbers. We need to add a few more players. The 17 I've got are very good but we need a few more."

Sky Sports 'understands' that Tottenham have offered Jake Livermore to West Ham on a season-long loan as part of their ongoing negotiations to sign Scott Parker.

Nottt Forest 1 West Ham 4

Parker was left out of the squad, so presumably he will be moving on this week. Faubert came in on the right wing and Collison moved into the middle. McCartney got the nod at left back ahead of Ilunga.

An open first half saw both sides create a number of goal scoring chances. A combination of poor finishing from Forest and some good goalkeeping from Green kept Forest at bay, whilst at the other end West Ham converted the majority of their chances.

In the 21st minute a low cross from Nolan from the left of the penalty box into the 6 yard box was sliced into his own goal by Chambers. Three minutes later it was 2-0 to West Ham after a deep corner was headed back into the six yard box by Tomkins and Nolan headed home from 5 yards.

West Ham's third came from an O'Brien deep cross which was headed back across goal by Reid and Cole headed in from 4 yards. West Ham could have had an even larger lead except from some poor finishing from Faubert and Nolan. In the 4th minute Cole back-footed the ball from the byline to Faubert who shot wide from 8 yards. In the 42nd minute Nolan had an even clearer chance from 8 yards but shot just right of the goal.


For the first 20 minutes of the second half West Ham did really well to control the game, retaining possession of the ball for long periods and restricting Forest to hardly any sightings on goal. However in the 70th minute some good work down the right led to a Lynch low cross which Findley converted from 7 yards.

What could have been a slightly nervy end to the game for West Ham was calmed 7 minutes later when West Ham again scored from a corner. Taylor's corner came back to him and he crossed to the far post where Reid scored from close range.


Another great away performance from West Ham. That's two away games in a row where West Ham have scored four goals. If we can just sort out our home form we could win this league.

West Ham Sign a Player Aged Under 30

West Ham have signed 22 yr old striker Sam Baldock from MK Dons. As ever West Ham say it is for "an undisclosed fee".

Baldock has scored 6 goals in 6 games for the Dons this season and was being chased by a number of clubs.

Baldock said, on joining West Ham,

"I am pleased to be here. I am just excited to be coming to such a great club, caked in so much history. I just want to hit the ground running.

"It is a massive club, isn't it? You just have to turn up at the stadium and your head is looking up straight away. The area, the fans are so passionate. I want to show what I can do for them and hopefully everyone will be proud of me."

Barrera Goes on Loan

Pablo Barrera has joined Real Zaragoza on a season-long loan.

The Sun claim West Ham are interested in free agent and former Fulham midfielder Papa Bouba Diop. They say the player has been training with West Ham.

The Sun also says that MK Dons striker Sam Baldock will decide today whether to join West Ham or Southampton for £1.4million.

West Ham 1 Aldershot 2

West Ham's poor home form continued in this Carling Cup tie. West Ham put out a generally weakened team, with Nolan being the only player in the team who also started on Sunday. Callum McNaughton was given his first senior game for West Ham.

Despite fielding a weakened side it was West Ham who took an early lead through Stanislas' 16th minute goal. His curled shot beat Young after some good battling from Barrera.

In the second half McNaughton was sent-off, which handed the initiative to Aldershot. In the 78th minute Guttridge scored from close range. Then in the 89th minute Hylton got the winner for Aldershot, converting McGlashan's cross with a low shot into the bottom right corner of the goal.

Spurs Win Legal Review - Updated

Spurs have won their High Court judicial review into the awarding of the Olympic Stadium to West Ham. This means a full hearing could begin on 18 October.

The essence of Spurs' complaint is that by receiving a loan from Newham Council West Ham are receiving illegal state aid. Spurs are using this legal route to try and blackmail the office of London Mayor Boris Johnson into giving them public funding for a new stadium in north London.

The BBC report that Spurs are close to achieving their aim of getting public funding and they are then likely to withdraw their legal challenge over the Olympic Stadium.

If Spurs do get tax payers' money to build a new stadium it would be ironic if someone was then to take that decision to the courts - especially as they have been arguing for over a year that state support is illegal.


West Ham tonight released a statement saying that,

"In response to media inquiries, we can confirm that West Ham today received a document from Tottenham asking us to give up our claims against them in relation to the above (the unlawful acquisition of bank and telephone records belonging to senior executives at the club and the OPLC), in return for Tottenham withdrawing their judicial review proceedings. West Ham naturally refused."

"We are advised that if found guilty of these crimes, those responsible can expect to receive custodial sentences. We have full faith in the police investigation into this matter and shall continue to provide the fullest of assistance to them."

West Ham 2 Leeds 2

West Ham were unchanged here, with the same first eleven that started against Watford.

Some early pressure from West Ham paid off for the home side. In the 5th minute a Cole header was tipped over the bar for a corner. From the corner Tomkins' header was also tipped over. However from the following corner Cole volleyed the ball home from 7 yards.

Leeds then responded very well to going behind and had the best of the rest of the half, with Gradel looking the best player on the pitch, making good runs down both wings. In the 10th minute Gradel forced Green into a save from 6 yards. In the 12th minute Snodgrass fired in a rasping shot from wide in the penalty area, that clipped the bar as it headed over the goal.

Leeds' pressure was rewarded in the 27th minute when Taylor clearly handled in the area. Luckily for West Ham, the otherwise impressive Gradel, fired his penalty kick wide of the left hand post.

At the other end Cole was unlucky not to have earned a penalty himself when he was taken down inside the area after a great run into the box. Unfortunately the ref saw it as a clean challenge on Cole.

In the 33rd minute Gradel almost atoned for his penalty miss with a great shot from 30 yards that a diving Green just managed to tip around the post. Despite Leeds pressure however West Ham managed to hold on and head into the break a goal to the good.


Early in the second half Leeds dominated the play. In the 48th minute they had another good shout for a penalty when a Parker sliding tackle in the area looked to have taken more of the player than the ball. In the 51st minute Green did well to rush out and block a shot from Keogh, who was clean through. The ball rebounded to McCormack who fired just over from 15 yards.

In the 59th minute Leeds' pressure paid off when McCormack finished off a good Leeds move with a goal from 9 yards. However it looked like it would be West Ham's day when just two minutes later a Faubert (on for Collison) cross from the right wing was put into his own net by Kisnorbo from 8 yards.

West Ham had a number of opportunities after that to extend their lead, particularly from corners, where Tomkins was winning everything at the far post. With minutes left Nolan had a brilliant opportunity to tie up the game after Piquionne managed to flick on a header at the near post. The ball fell to Nolan just two yards out but the ball ran through his legs.

Then in injury time Howson shot against the crossbar, the ball fell to McCormack who shot home from 12 yards.


West Home looked second best for much of this game and Leeds certainly deserved their point.

West Ham Reject QPR Bid for Parker

West Ham have laughed off QPR's bid for Scott Parker. David Sullivan said of the £4 million bid,

"It's ridiculously low. We see it as a cheap publicity stunt. It’s a bit like us bidding £12m for Wayne Rooney.

"We hope Scott is our player on September 1 but we respect the fact that he has given us four great years of service. We also respect the fact he wants to move to a Premier League club to protect his position in the England team.

But unless we receive our valuation, he won’t be sold."


The Mirror claim West Ham are close to agreeing a fee of around £1.5 million for Nice striker Eric Mouloungui.

The Mail however claim that West Ham are weighing up a move for Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard. Leicester have already had a £5m offer rejected for the striker who has one year left on his contract.

Hines Leaves West Ham

Zavon Hines has signed a permanent contract with Burnley. Hines' contract with West Ham ran out earlier this summer. West Ham will now be due some compensation from Burnley.

West Ham Hope to Sell Parker and Cole

The Mirror say West Ham are 'hoping' to sell Parker to QPR and Cole to Fulham.

The Star say Burnley are close to signing Zavon Hines has rejected all West Ham's offers of a new contract.

In other news Wolfsburg have signed former West Ham midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger.

Watford 0 West Ham 4

West Ham started with Carlton Cole replacing Piquionne.

Watford started brightly but it was West Ham that got the early goal. In the 3rd minute a deep corner from Taylor was headed home by Tomkins.

In the 14th minute Taylor shot just wide from a free-kick from 25 yards out. At the other end Watford kept Green reasonably busy. In the 15th minute Sordell forced a good save from Green.

In the 25th minute Nolan crossed into the Watford area, Cole flicked the ball on and Reid pulled his shot just wide of the post. In the 43rd minute Collison headed over a Parker cross.

As the first half headed into the last minute O'Brien drove forward from the halfway line, had one shot rebound back to him, before shooting home from just inside the penalty area.


Watford had the best chance early on in the second half, with a Sordell 20 yard shot saved by Green at the expense of a corner. West Ham then began to control the game in midfield.

In the 68th minute Tomkins was forced off and was replaced by Faye, for his first action for West Ham. A few minutes after Tomkins was subbed a Nolan shot was deflected to Ilunga who pulled the ball back for Cole to side-foot home from 4 yards. After grabbing his goal Cole was replaced by Piquionne. Collison soon also made way, for Faubert.

In the 83rd minute a Parker long range effort just flew wide. Two minutes later and Nolan shot over the bar from only 6 yards out. Two minutes on again and Taylor shot just wide from outside of the area. Three minutes before the end of the game Parker shot left footed into the corner of the net to make it a comfortable win for the Irons.


A convincing win from West Ham sees them jump up the league into third place.

Cole Happy at West Ham

Sam Allardyce says that Carlton Cole has turned down the offer of better money elsewhere to play for West Ham.

Allardyce seems to contradict what was reported when Cole turned down the chance to move to Stoke. It was said at the time that Stoke's strict wages policy meant Cole would earn far less than he does at West Ham.

Allardyce is reported in today's Mirror as saying,

"Carlton turned down Stoke, so he has to be commended for that. He turned down the chance of earning far more money than he earns at West Ham, so when every player is ridiculed that all they do is play for money, he is the opposite of that."

The Mirror also quote Cole saying that he is happy at West Ham,

"I am committed to West Ham – I always want to do well for the club because they gave me an opportunity when things were not going so well for me in my career, and I’ll never forget that.

"I am comfortable where I am, but obviously the manager has brought in some very good players. There is real competition for places now, and hopefully he will get the best out of me.

"We have good quality up front, good players to support us from midfield and a good defence - now it is up to our strikers to shine. I am happy [with] who the manager has brought in to give us a kick up the backside."

West Ham Escape the Relegation Zone

West Ham beat Doncaster Rovers 1-0, with a goal in the 5th minute from Kevin Nolan.

The Irons started with only one change from last week, with Collison in for Sears.

Doncaster had by far the better of the possession in the first half but failed to create any clear cut chances. Nolan's goal came after same great work from Collison and a great chip over the Doncaster defence to find Nolan, who volleyed home from 8 yards.

In the second half Doncaster did a little better in attacking the West Ham goal and towards the end of the game West Ham had a few nervous moments in defence. At the other end Cole (on for Piquionne) had a great chance to extend West Ham's lead in the 69th minute, but slammed his shot into the side of the net.

Despite another far from convincing display West Ham will be delighted in securing their first win since the beginning of March and their first three points away from home in six months.

Collison Signs New Contract with West Ham

Jack Collison has committed his future to West Ham by signing a new contract.

The West Ham website hasn't revealed how long the contract is for, except for saying it is 'long-term'. Collison himself has said,

"It's nice to have the security of knowing my future is with West Ham United. I look around and see what they are building and I want to be part of the future. Fingers crossed, I'll work hard and hope I can do the business."

No Bids for Parker, Green & Cole

Sky Sports report that West Ham have received no recent bids for Parker, Green or Cole. They quote Sam Allardyce as saying,

"There have been no bids recently. We hope that will continue. The players are committed to the football club. I was only disappointed in the result last Sunday, not the performance."


West Ham's opponents tomorrow, Doncaster Rovers, are undergoing a bit of an injury crisis.

Midfielder Ryan Mason and strikers Billy Sharp and James Hayter look set to miss the game. Doncaster will also be without James O'Connor, James Chambers, Martin Woods, Brian Stock, Adam Lockwood, Shelton Martis and Mark Wilson.

West Ham will be without McCartney and Carew, who Allardyce says are not yet match fit.


In other news - the winners of the West Ham vs Aldershot first round Carling Cup tie will play Carlisle at home in the second round.

McCartney Rejoins

George McCartney is back at West Ham on a season long loan from Sunderland.

McCartney said on his return to the club,

"It is brilliant to be coming back. For me personally it will be great to be playing again for a club like West Ham. It is a big opportunity for me and I can't wait to get started again. I am looking forward to being part of the manager's squad and the club's push for promotion."

West Ham Game Cancelled

As you have probably already heard tonight's Carling Cup game against Aldershot has been cancelled.

The game will now take place at 7.45pm on Wednesday 24th August.


The Daily Mirror reports today that West Ham hope to sign George McCartney this week. I can't think what Ilunga has done to upset Big Sam ;)

We Should Have Won

Sam Allardyce say that West Ham yesterday paid the price of poor finishing,

"From our point of view we've mastered the game, created numerous chances and today was one of those days when we were not clinical enough to punish the opposition and then we paid the ultimate price right at the very end."

"We've lost a game we really should have won. I told the players that you don't always get what you deserve but don't go and throw a game away, and that's what we've done."

West Ham 0 Cardiff 1

An OK performance by West Ham was undone by an error late on by Ilunga. West Ham had done pretty well at the back, particularly in the air. However as soon as Gestede came on for Cardiff the West Ham defence looked a lot more rocky.

Kenny Miller's late goal was a tough break for West Ham but they never really looked in total control of the game and were not exactly dangerous in front of goal. Piquionne in particular had a poor game. He did make a chance for himself early on but after that he was ineffective, particularly in holding up long balls.

Piquionne wasn't helped by being completely isolated in attack. I was expecting Nolan to play a lot further forward than he did. On the right wing Sears didn't look as lively as he did in pre-season but Taylor on the left wing was a different story and was probably West Ham's man of the match.

In Taylor it looks like we finally have a winger who can cross the ball. He also looks like he will provide West Ham with more opportunities from free-kicks.

West Ham did create a number of chances in this game. It is apparent however that we need someone who is going to put those chances away. If this is Allardyce's formation then whether it is Piquionne, Cole or Carew up front on their own the midfield are going to have to get up in support a lot quicker than they did today.

West Ham Sign Carew

West Ham have signed John Carew on a free transfer. Carew said on signing for West Ham,

"I am so pleased to be here. I am very happy to sign for such a big club. I am looking forward to being part of a good team here that will bring this great club back up to the Premier League again."


The People claim that Stoke have met West Ham's valuation of Scott Parker, putting in a bid of £8 million. However the paper says Parker is likely to reject the offer in favour of staying at West Ham.


The Mirror and The People both claim that West Ham are keen on signing Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard. West Ham are said to be willing to pay £4 million plus add-ons for the 24-year-old and offer him a £25,000-a-week contract.

Carew Undergoing Medical

Sky Sports are reporting that John Carew is undergoing a medical at West Ham. Carew is available on a free contract after leaving Aston Villa this summer.

Sky also report that West Ham are amongst a number of clubs chasing free agent Julio Arca.

West Ham Chase Ngog

The Sum claim West Ham are keen on signing Liverpool's David Ngog. However the paper also say that West Ham are unwilling to match Liverpool's £5.5million valuation of the striker nor the player's wage demands - so not that keen then.

Jonathan Spector has signed for Birmingham on a free contract. Spector has signed a two year contract with the club.

West Ham defender Jordan Spence is set for another loan spell at Bristol City. Spence also spent tow months on loan at Bristol City last season.

Boa Morte Leaves West Ham

Sam Allardyce revealed today that Boa Morte has left West Ham to return to Portugal. Speaking to talkSport Allardyce said,

"We've lost 15 players with Luis Boa Morte having moved to Portugal now."

In the same interview Allardyce denied the resurgent rumours that West Ham are trying to sign Joe Cole on a loan deal,

"Purely and simply from a financial point of view, I just think it's impossible on the reputed £5m-a-year for us to even contemplate."
