Saturday Gossip

According to The Daily Express West Ham have beaten strong competition from Rangers to land Bordeaux winger Jullien Faubert for £6 million. They also think that Villa might be interested in Nigel Reo-Coker.

The Daily Telegraph's 'Transfer Talk' section says that West Ham's 'quest for a forward could focus on Mido, who looks set to leave T*ttenham after the £16.6 million acquisition of Darren Bent'.

Shock As West Ham Sign No New Players

According to The Independent Djibril Cissé is set to sign for Marseilles from Liverpool despite a late offer from West Ham.

Sky Sports say that Carlos Tevez will delay any decision on his future until after the Copa America.

Former West Ham player Lionel Scaloni looks to be on the verge of signing for Lazio.

Channel Four say that West Ham and Villa are deadlocked in their negotiations over Nigel Reo-Coker.

Kevin Nolan appears to have resolved to stay at Bolton despite rumours linking him with West Ham.

Barcelona winger Ludovic Giuly looks set to move to Monaco even though his agent claims he is wanted by West Ham.

O'Neill in London

The Daily Mirror claim that Martin O'Neill is in London to off load Davis to Fulham and to up Villa's offer for Reo-Coker to £8 million. Other sources claim Villa are keen to sign the West Ham captain before Eriksson is named captain of Man City next week.

Arbitration Decision Tuesday

The BBC are reporting that the arbitration panel, which said they would report their decision by the end of June, could now make their announcement next Tuesday. Yesterday The Times were suggesting Monday so it seems that the decision isn't going to be announced until the beginning of next week.

Tevez Keen to Stay in Premiership

A short while after Inter said they were not interested in Tevez, Kia Joorabchian declared that Tevez had turned down Inter,

"Inter put a deadline on the decision and Carlos' heart is really in the Premier League, so he was not prepared to meet that cut-off point."

Although Joorabchian's statement is a little questionable, coming only a couple of days after Tevez seemed quite keen on Inter, it is good news for West Ham that Joorabchian sees Tevez's immediate future in the Premier League. Joorabchian went on to dismiss the rumours that Tevez has been offered wages of £100,000 a week by West Ham but did say,

"It is true we are still talking and hope to come to some arrangement."

Definitively sounds promising.

Inter Not An Option For Tevez

Carlos Tevez recently revealed that he would rather play for Inter than Real Madrid. However since signing David Suazo Inter president Massimo Moratti has ruled out any bid for Tevez,

"He is no longer our objective."

Lucas Urges Quick Start for West Ham

Lucas Neill, who seems to have long ago stolen the mantle of club captain from Nigel Roe-Coker, has called on the West Ham players to be on the pace from the beginning next season,

"It's a long season. I don't think we're going to be the champions but I think after the lessons we learned last year it's important we get off to a good start.

We have a chairman who has a dream, is a very ambitious guy and has very powerful resources so, like a lot of clubs he'll be looking to spend some money in the transfer market and hopefully him and the manager can bring in good quality and we can look up rather than down."

Harewood for Harry

Harry Redknapp has been talking about his admiration for Marlon Harewood,

"I've been keeping an eye on Marlon. I like him - he's strong, quick and powerful. He's a real handful on his day and most of all, can definitely get you goals in the Premier League. If he could get 15 goals again, he'd be a snip."

Nicky Shorey has also been talking to the press. Shorey is currently in contract talks with Reading which seemed to put a damper on the rumours linking him to West Ham. However Shorey has said he is flattered to be linked with West Ham which has rekindled the rumours of a possible transfer.

100,000 Hits

Earlier this week Hammered passed the 100,000 hits mark. So that's another milestone passed, I guess the next target is a quarter million.

As you can see from the stats on the right traffic seems to go up during the transfer window. What isn't shown on this chart is the fact that the number of stats are far higher on weekdays than at the weekend, which suggests to me that some work computers are not being used exclusively for work.

Comparing June of last year to June of this year you can see that the monthly hits for the site have tripled in a year. So if we keep growing at this rate the 250,000 mark shouldn't be too far off.

Anyway, thanks for reading and I'll try to keep the blog going.

Eriksson in for Reo-Coker

The Times are claiming that Sven-Göran Eriksson made an inquiry about West Ham's Nigel Reo-Coker through an intermediary on Tuesday evening. Eriksson is expected to be appointed City manager in the next 48 hours once the planned take-over of the club finally goes ahead.

Wednesday, June 27, 2007

Kevin Nolan Anyone?

Bolton News claim that West Ham are set to make an offer for Bolton's Kevin Nolan. The paper claims the bid is dependent on the successful sale of Reo-Coker.

Coincidentally a number of papers say that Manchester City are set to battle Villa for the signing of the West Ham captain.

Co-coincidentally most of the papers seem fairly sure that Eriksson has agreed to manage City and that an announcement will be made next week.

West Ham Seek Ashton Compensation

With news that Newcastle look set to receive £10 million in compensation from the FA for being injured on England duty West Ham fans have been asking, "What about Dean Ashton?" Well, according to The Guardian, West Ham have already received £300,000 from the FA, which was paid in advance whilst the case is looked into by the FA's insurers. The paper says the club is becoming frustrated at the delays in the remaining £1 million in compensation that the club believes is owed them.

The discrepancy between the compensation for Owen and Ashton comes from the fact that the FA pays the wages of injured players. Which presumably means Owen earns around ten times as much as Ashton.

In other news The Daily Star say that Alan Curbishley's future as West Ham boss could be in doubt despite him leading them to Premiership safety last season. That's why West Ham have just let him appoint a new first team coach then.

Left Backs Snub West Ham

The Daily Mail report that Wayne Bridge has insisted he is staying at Chelsea. The paper says this means West Ham will not sanction the sale of Konchesky to Birmingham.

The Independent on the other hand are reporting that Reading are optimistic that Nicky Shorey will sign a new contract with them and therefore disappoint West Ham who were hoping to tempt him away.

Tuesday, June 26, 2007

Snodin Appointed As First Team Coach

West Ham today announced the appointment of former Leeds defender Glynn Snodin as first team coach. Snodin was first team coach at Southhampton and also worked with Alan Curbishley at Charlton.

Snodin will start his first training next Monday when the team start pre-season training.

Tevez Interested in Inter and Arsenal

West Ham's Carlos Tevez is quoted in various papers saying he is excited with being linked to Inter Milan and in other papers as being excited with being linked with Arsenal. According to The Sun Tevez is pleased to be linked with Arsenal,

"I know people are now talking about Arsenal and obviously that is something I am excited about. It's another big club and the good thing is I wouldn't have to move out of London. I also already know English football and I like it.

Arsenal's style is more technical than physical, so I could fit in no problem. My transfer is being talked about a lot. It's beautiful to be wanted by various clubs."

The Times however quote Tevez as saying that he wants a move to Inter,

"Inter is a great club. There is a true possibility that I will wear the Nerazzurri colours next season. It’s also true that Real Madrid are interested in my services but my agent knows exactly how I feel about it - better Inter than Real."

It's Very Quiet Out There

With the lack of any real activity in the transfer market The Mirror are forced to make up rumours about ex-England managers thinking that Marlon Harewood could have won the world cup for England and I am forced to rehash the ever unreliable rumours from Tribal Football.

So here goes. According to Tribal Football West Ham are preparing a £5.5 million offer for Wigan left-back Leighton Baines.

And that's about it on the rumour front.

And Another Rumour

Sky Sports say West Ham are amongst a number of clubs interested in Under-21 French International Didier Digard. Diogard has impressed for Le Havre and is also generating interest from bigger French clubs like PSG and Monaco.

Sven Loves Harewood

In what must count as one of the strangest stories of the week The Daily Mirror claims that Sven Goran Erikkson's first signing when he takes over at City will be Marlon Harewood. The paper claims that Sven is a big fan of Harewood and nearly took him to the world cup last year before he was injured.

No One In, No One Out

It seems that Reo-Coker's possible move to Aston Villa has stalled because of a disagreement between West Ham and Villa over his value.

The Bent transfer to West Ham fell through because Bent was too greedy (or couldn't work with Curbs). Now it seems Bent is also not moving to Sp@~s as they refuse to pay the silly money West Ham were offering for him. The knock on effect of this will probably be to scotch any thoughts West Ham might have had about resigning Defoe.

Shorey, Bridge and SWP, if you believe the press, also seem less than keen in joining West Ham.

The net effect of all this seems to be panic among a number of West Ham fans. But there is a long time to go yet and as long as Tevez is one of the players not leaving I'm still happy.

West Ham in the Sunday Papers

The Star say that West Ham have missed out on Reading's Nicky Shorey and have now turned their attention to Chelsea left back Wayne Bridge.

The News of the World say West Ham have made a £11million offer for Shaun Wright-Phillips. Although they paper says a Chelsea insider has revealed that there is no way he will be sold for that amount and that they want nearer the £21million that they paid for the winger.

Also Shaun Wright-Phillips isn't very keen on surrendering the chance of playing in the Champions League and is wary of the arbitration panel into the Carlos Tevez controversy.

The News of the World repeat the rumour that Birmingham, Fulham, Aston Villa and Portsmouth are all preparing bids for Marlon Harewood.

Reo-Coker Too Expensive for Villa

Aston Villa are reported to be ready to pay £7 million for Nigel Reo-Coker whilst West Ham are holding out for between £10 & £12 million (depending on which rumour you believe). It is also being rumoured that Reo-Coker has begged West Ham to lower their evaluation of him.

Saturday, June 23, 2007

Tevez and the Arse

With Thierry Henry's move to Barcelona nearly completed The Daily Mirror are the first to create the rumour that Arsenal wish to replace him with Tevez. The Mirror say the club have registered their interests with 'the player's advisors.'

It seems to me the paper has missed a trick here, Harewood seems a far more natural replacement for Henry.

West Ham Close on Shorey

The Independent say that West Ham hope to sign Reading left back Nicky Shorey for £6 million early next week. The paper also say that Liverpool are prepared to pay £4.5 million for Benayoun and that he is likely to be used in a swap with Craig Bellamy. If Benayoun does move then West Ham will try once again to sign Shaun Wright-Phillips.

The Mail claim that Bent has agreed a deal with Sp~@rs that will see him playing for little more than half the wages he would have earned at Upton Park. If Bent has joined Sp@~rs then this is likely to hasten the departure of Defoe. Also with Barcelona on the verge of signing Thierry Henry for £1 million less than Bent I'd say the Spuds were mugged.

The Mail also say that they have 'learned' that three contracts are in existence which prove that Kia Joorabchian's MSI company maintained its third party influence over Tevez after West Ham had been fined £5.5million.

It appears that they have 'learned' this from Sheffield United chairman Kevin McCabe, so it is worth taking with a pinch of salt.

Harewood in Demand

Sky Sports say that four clubs are trailing West Ham's Marlon Harewood. Birmingham, Fulham, Portsmouth and Aston Villa are the clubs they say are monitoring Harewood's situation, with Birmingham already having had one bid rejected.

However as they reveal their source for this story to be his agent I suspect there might not be quite as much interest as he claims.

Paintsil Wants Out

In an interview with BBC Sport John Paintsil reveals his frustration at West Ham.

"I want to play, it's as simple as that. It is a difficult situation for me. I want to be playing for Ghana in every game and fight for the red, gold and green colours.

But I know that club form is important so all I can hope is that I can rectify that in the coming season. My future is important and I can't end up like this.

I am hoping that everything works out well even if I don't get the opportunity at West Ham. Alan Curbishley talked things over with me and has assured me the club will take my interest into great consideration in whatever decision they make about me.

He set my mind at ease with that conversation but it is has been a very difficult situation for me. The money I earn at West Ham is about a 1,000 times what I had in Israel but that means nothing if I am not playing.

Sometimes I sit on the bench watching games and wonder why I do well at training and never get to play. I just chose to focus and keep training so that when the chance comes, I won't disgrace myself.

I can't sit down and complain all day so I rather put more hours into training and make sure when I get the opportunity I won't blow it."

Scouse Bid for Yossi

The Independent and The Sun both say that Liverpool are set to offer £4.5 million for West Ham's Yossi Benayoun. Both papers say that West Ham are keen to do a deal if they can persuade Craig Bellamy to move the other way. They also see West Ham's continued interest in Bellamy as acceptance by the club that Carlos Tevez won't be a Hammer next year.

Some Old News & Some Possibly New

OK, so this is old news to all of you but it seems Darren Bent has turned down the opportunity to join West Ham. Reading between the lines of Eggy's statements on the club website it appears Bent was asking for a ridiculous wage. I can't say I'm overly disappointed that the deal fell through.

According to Sky Sports Benni McCarthy is pleased to be associated with West Ham again. Although linked with West Ham last summer he signed for Blackburn but it seems he is unhappy with life up north.

I'm delighted to discover that Tevez hasn't left the club yet but a move away from West Ham seems increasingly likely. Sky Sports are today reporting on what seems like a concerted campaign by Inter to woo the Argentinian. They quote Inter club captain Javier Zanetti as saying,

"It would be a great signing for us because he is a player that never gives up. He would be ideal for Inter, he has great talent and we really hope he will join us."

In Spain however the papers believe he is joining the Spanish Champions. They are claiming today that Real Madrid have had talks with Kia Joorabchian, about signing Tevez.

And We're Back

Apologies for the unannounced break!

As a lot of you probably guessed I've been on holiday for just over a week. Someone offered me free use of their flat in Northern Spain but I had to leave almost immediately (hence the lack of warning on this site).

I thought I would probably be able to post occasionally from Spain but I couldn't find an internet cafe and the beach had far more appeal, so I gave up looking. I have had a complete West Ham blackout for two weeks, so I'll try to get back up to speed and begin posting at least twice a day.

So again I apologise for not posting a warning of the break. If it is any compensation I was forced to cough up £6 every day for a four course meal with a bottle of wine.

It's a DIY Day

It's quite interesting comparing Noble's fine words in The Guardian to Nigel Reo-Coker's ego in The Express.

Although before being too critical in your judgement of Reo-Coker

Sunday Rumours

The News of the World and The People have joined The Mail in claiming that Man Utd have made an offer for Tevez.

The NoW also say West Ham are demanding £10 million for Reo-Coker and that Defoe has turned down a £12 million move to West Ham.

The People link West Ham, Everton, Middlesbrough, Manchester City and Sunderland with Bolton's Kevin Nolan.

West Ham in for Another Argentinian Star

According to ESPN Deportes West Ham officials last week met with River Plate president Jose Maria in an attempt to sign goalkeeper Juan Pablo Carrizo for £6.5 million. River Plate are said to want to hold onto the 23 year old keeper but would not be able to turn down such a high fee.

Tevez and Man Utd

The Daily Mail say that Man Utd have made an offer for Tevez to his 'representatives'. The paper also say that MSI have appointed lawyer Graham Shear to sit down with West Ham this week and thrash out the player's future.

Hopefully talk of a United bid is just a Joorabchian attempt to inflate Tevez's value. What does seem certain is that there will be some heated debate between MSI's lawyers and West Ham about the 'third party' clauses that West Ham tore up in the original contract.

West Ham Saturday Rumours

The Daily Mirror can't be bothered to invent anything new so repeat that Sp..rs and West Ham are battling to sign Darren Bent.

The Sun have strung together a few quotes from past statements by Tevez to show hw hasn't ruled out staying at West Ham.

The Times interview Nigel Reo-Coker who denies being part of the 'Baby Bentley' culture.

The Daily Mail concentrate on Parker and Curbishley's warning to the players,

"It is not about playing for West Ham - you have to change that around a little bit - you work for West Ham."

Friday, June 08, 2007

Three Quality Signings

It seems that Tarik Elyounoussi will not be one of Eggert Magnusson's three more quality signings. West Ham were reported to be on the verge of beating Chelsea to the signing of the young Fredrikstad striker.

However Fredikstad sporting director Morgan Andersen claims that Elyounoussi won't be going anywhere this year.

The Daily Mail is trying hard to resurrect the link between Craig Bellamy and West Ham. They say the player is a firm favourite of Alan Curbishley, who sees him as a replacement for Tevez. The paper however thinks that Bellamy wants a move to Newcastle.

Yossi to Sign

Alan Curbishley says that Yossi Benayoun will sign a new five year contract with West Ham,

"Yossi phoned up yesterday (Wednesday) to reiterate that he is coming here tomorrow (Friday) to sign it. He is a terrific player and one who wants to be here. It is not a bad commitment, five years. It is the same as Scotty and we are delighted."

Watch This!

"Look at your f..king watch and blow the f..king whistle!"

Pure quality.

West Ham Press Conference

West Ham today held a press conference with Dean Ashton, Scott Parker, Alan Curbishley, Eggert Magnusson and someone from the new sponsors XL Leisure.

Scott Parker was pressed about his relationship with Alan Curbishley. Parker and Curbishley both stressed that their problems were water under the bridge.

Ashton was asked about his fitness and replied,

"My rehab's going well. I'm more than hopeful that I'll start pre-season with all the other players."

A reporter asked Curbishley if it felt like having a new £10 million signing to have Dean Ashton back. Eggert Magnusson interrupted and said,

"He is worth more than £10 million ... much more."

Magnusson also spoke confidently today about keeping hold of Carlos Tevez,

"Tevez has a contract with West Ham for three more years and I am confident he will be here next season. He's a great player, a great lad, everyone loves him around the club - and I think he'll be playing here next season."

The West Ham chairman also announced that the club is looking to bring in three more quality players before the start of next season and "for quality players you have to pay a price."

Watch the press conference here.

New Sponsors & New Gossip

West Ham today announced a new sponsorship deal with XL Leisure Group. The team will now play with the XL.com logo on their shirts. The new shirts will go on general sale on 16th June.

As well as having their logo on the club shirts an XL design will cover the entire roof of the east stand and will have branding on the LED pitch perimeter advertising system during matches.

The Daily Star say that West Ham are set to pip Chelsea to the signing of Fredrikstad striker Tarik Elyounoussi, 19. They say he is keener on West Ham despite having had a trial with Chelsea.

The Sun say that Scott Parker is the first piece in the jigsaw for West Ham. Curbishley will now concentrate on trying to sign Darren Bent, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Nicky Shorey.

Benayoun Hoping for Liverpool Bid

The Independent says that Yossi Benayoun has stalled on signing a new contract with West Ham because he is hoping that Liverpool will bid for him. Despite having agreed a new contract with West Ham in principle, that sees his wages double, the paper claims he still expects Benitez to make a move for him before the end of the week.

The paper also points out however that Liverpool are unlikely to meet West Ham's £5 million evaluation of the midfielder.

Wednesday, June 06, 2007

Reo-Coker Wants Villa Move

Nigel Reo-Coker's agent Tony Finnigan says that the West Ham captain wants to move to Aston Villa,

"He will be signing for Villa once that bid is accepted. Nigel is over the moon to be linked with Martin O'Neill and a club of that calibre and size."

Not quite the move you wanted though Tony. Well done for wangling a backwards step for your client.

West Ham Sign Parker

Today Scott Parker became West Ham's first signing of the summer. The midfielder signed from Newcastle for £7 million.

A clearly pleased Alan Curbishley said of the signing,

"I'm delighted Scott has agreed to sign for us. Our relationship goes back some time to when he first joined Charlton as a schoolboy.

"He's coming to the Club knowing full well that we're trying to push forward and he wants to be part of that. Firstly he wants to improve our team; then he wants to improve his chances of forcing his way back into the England scene.

"He has been captain of Newcastle over the last couple of seasons and he is exactly the type of player that I wanted to bring to the Club. He's very experienced but still young and I'm sure he's going to be a big asset to West Ham."

Eggert Magnusson issued another official statement today, basically saying that West Ham were looking to sign players and therefore there will be lots of speculation in the press. Interestingly he was specific in saying,

"I've had a very positive discussion with my good friend Bill Kenwright, the Everton Chairman, and can confirm that West Ham have not and are not bidding for any Everton player at this time."

No Andy Johnson then.

Yossi Benayoun to Sign

Yossi Benayoun's agent Ronen Katzav says that there are "one or two small issues" with the new contract which still need to be ironed out and that the delay was partly due to Benayoun being away with Israel for the Euro 2008 qualifiers.

But Katzav added that Benayoun is committed to a future at Upton Park and is not looking for a move elsewhere.

Benayoun Turns Down West Ham??

According to The Daily Mail Yossi Benayoun has turned down a new five year deal at West Ham.

This is confusing because a couple of weeks ago it was widely reported that he had signed a new five year deal. In fact the official West Ham website quoted Yossi as saying,

"I'm very pleased to have agreed this new deal. From the first moment I arrived at West Ham, the Club felt like home to me. We have the best supporters in England."

Hopefully this is just The Daily Mail getting it spectacularly wrong.

One player who has rejected West Ham is Joey Barton, who has signed for Newcastle.

Tuesday, June 05, 2007

Villa Bid £7 Million for Reo-Coker

The BBC are reporting that Aston Villa have tabled a bid of £7 million for Nigel Reo-Coker, although they say West Ham said at the end of the season they would listen to bids of £8 million.

Newcastle have agreed a fee of £8 million for Scott Parker from West Ham and if both deals go ahead and West Ham are only £1 million out of pocket I think most West Ham fans will think it a good bit of business.

West Ham Bid For Barton

Manchester City today released the following statement,

"We can confirm Joey Barton has requested permission to speak to two clubs. Newcastle and West Ham have submitted bids of £5.5million or more for the player's services."

It is believed that West Ham are ready to offer the player higher wages than Newcastle. However this transfer is likely to have a knock on effect to the proposed move of Scott Parker. If Barton chooses West Ham will Newcastle release Parker?

For me Parker is the better player and is less likely to cause problems with his off pitch behaviour.

West Ham Tirade

Thankfully the article I refer to in this post seems to have now been removed.

Soccer Lens a website that occasionally publishes some interesting articles has today put up a vitriolic attack on West Ham accusing the fans of being 'Neanderthals' and 'racist'

The site has now been forced to turn off comments because it has been inundated with complaints from West Ham fans. However if you want to complain about this rubbish there is a contact tab at the top of the page that you can use.

Harewood on the Move

Marlon Harewood is the latest West Ham player to hand in a transfer request. Wigan, Manchester City and Portsmouth have all been linked with the £4m-rated striker.

Marlon scored 16 goals in West Ham's first season back in the Premiership but only managed four last season and was relegated to the bench under Curbishley. Marlon says,

"I think it's time for me to leave. The manager wants to bring in his own players and this happens everywhere, it's football.

"I want to be playing football, I love it. I had a great season before last for West Ham but last season wasn't the best for me. But I'm so up for next season. I just can't wait to be scoring again and winning games for a team, that's what I want to be doing." "

Rumours and Gossip

All seems to have gone quiet on the Parker transfer, although there has been some suggestion that it is a done deal depending on a medical this weekend (not yesterday) and could be announced early next week.

Another little rumour doing the rounds is that Tevez just might stay at West Ham for another year on a loan basis.

Monday, June 04, 2007

Tevez's Future

The usually reliable Knees Up Mother Brown claim that West Ham will meet with Carlos Tevez's representatives this week with a view to extending the Argentinian's stay at West Ham.

Howver they say that the feeling inside the club remains that Tevez will be playing elsewhere next season.

West Ham to Bid for Andrew Johnson

The Daily Mail say that West Ham are to bid £13 million to Everton for Andrew Johnson and offer the player £90,000 a week in wages.

The paper says that West Ham expect to be knocked back but are prepared to go as high as £18 million. Just the sort of information that a club is going to tell a newspaper before beginning negotiations.

Sunday, June 03, 2007

Parker to Sign Tomorrow - Possibly

A lot of sites are now saying that Scott Parker has agreed personal terms with West Ham. Apparently he is due to undertake a medical tomorrow morning and if all goes well an official announcement should soon follow. The deal is rumoured to be in the region of £7 million.

Sunday Papers

The Sunday People say Derby are keen to sign Matthew Etherington from West Ham for £2m. Also West Ham and Portsmouth are after Reading's Irish winger Stephen Hunt, who only has a year left on his contract with the Royals.

The News of the World claim Charlton striker Darren Bent will snub a bumper £60,000-a-week deal from West Ham to sign for London rivals T*tenham. This could prompt West Ham boss Alan Curbishley to turn his attentions to Jermain Defoe. (

A Break From Football

I've been a bit lax on on posting on here for a couple of days because I've been working hard on my other blog Virtual Tourism.

The culmination of this break from West Ham is this Google Gadget hack of Google's new 'Street View' in Google Maps.

You can add this gadget to your iGoogle page by clicking on the +Google button above.

I intend to change the view everyday. The view above is of San Francisco. Click on the 'zoom out' button and then on the arrows and you can walk around. In fact if you are so inclined you can travel all the way into and walk all around San Francisco. You can also drag the camera around 360 degrees and double click to zoom in.

OK - more West Ham news tomorrow.

Saturday Paper Round-Up

The Sun claim West Ham will bid £4 million for Kieran Richardson. They will also make a £10 million bid for Shaun Wright-Phillips and weirdest of all will make a bid for 35 year old striker Andy Cole.

The Mirror repeat the SWP rumour and along with most of the other papers say West Ham have agreed a fee with Newcastle for Parker.

The Star say that West Ham are set to bid for Everton duo Andrew Johnson and Tim Cahill. They also say that Charlton believe T*tenham, Liverpool and West Ham will enter a summer bidding battle for Darren Bent which could see his price rocket to £20million.

Majority of Clubs Support West Ham

At Friday's AGM of members of the English Premier League the majority of the clubs gave a vote of confidence on the ruling into West Ham's signing of Tevez and Mascherano. The press have of course been quick to jump on the complaints of the three or four clubs at the bottom of the league who opportunistically jumped on the inquiry into West Ham as an opportunity to avoid relegation.

Of course it was always clear that the majority of the clubs in the league were happy with the original judgement and believed the issue was over and done with. Something the press were not so quick to point out.

It has emerged that Fulham are also thinking of taking the ruling to arbitration. But it is also clear that the majority of clubs are urging them to reconsider. The League issued this statement on Fulham's request,

"Fulham FC had informed the board it was their intention to seek arbitration proceedings in relation to the West Ham judgement and the board's subsequent actions. Other member clubs expressed their wish that Fulham FC withdraw these proceedings."

In other words the majority of clubs have told Fulham to eff off, and luckily Fulham will be obliging at the end of next season.

Tevez: "I'm still a Hammer'

Well he hasn't been sold yet and Tevez has again reiterated that he is a West Ham player,

"Regarding what I am asked every day, I still don't know what I am going to do in the future," Tevez told TyC Sports. "West Ham has the priority for keeping me in the team.

"It has been said that there are several offers for me but West ham has the first choice on me.

"I speak all the time with my agent about what I will do in my career and for the moment I am still a player of West Ham."

However there is still a long time to go before the start of the season and I don't think many believe he will still be with us come August.

Transfer Rumours

Whilst all reports suggest Parker's transfer to West Ham is nearly in the bag Nigel Reo-Coker's agent is suddenly setting his sights a little lower. Only a couple of days ago Tony Finnegan was boasting that Reo-Coker would reject Sp@~s for Arsenal.

Well it seems that perhaps no clubs are that eager to sign the West Ham captain. At least that is all that we can surmise from the fact that Finnigan is now reduced to begging for offers,

"Sam Allardyce knows how to get in contact with Nigel and we would welcome a call. If Sam said he wanted to speak, Nigel would be on the train in a shot. It would be very interesting to see what his plans are for Newcastle."

Another rumour that has begun to emerge is that West Ham are keen to sign Everton's Mikel Arteta. Selling Arteta would be an unpopular move by Everton as he has been the fans' player of the season two years running now. So it seems a bit dubious but would be an excellent signing if Eggy and Curbs can swing it.
